Want Effortless Success? Think Small.

Effortless success comes from taking life as it comes, moment by moment, clouds and all. In this way, little, inspired actions will lead to massive results.
Thanks to Jo who took this photo as storm clouds passed over Westlake lake.

Ever had one of those days when you wake up already feeling defeated?

Like your heart is nowhere near into what it is that you know needs doing? And the thought of taking the next step in the direction of your dreams leaves you feeling exhausted?

Monday was one of those days for me. Which is especially hard because it was a Monday. And Mondays “should be” full of promise, and energy, and possibility.

Used to be that when I landed on days like Monday, I’d jump into action, run in the opposite direction of what I was feeling, force myself to make that call, take that step, stare down that to-do list until the rest of me was sucked into the vortex of action and had no choice but to go along.

Because the fear was that if I stop, if I even hesitate, I’d lose momentum. And the only way tomorrow could be better than today was if I kept going.

No matter what.

These days, it’s different.

These days, I’m willing to slow down — stop, even, for a moment (or however long it takes) — to feel whatever I’m feeling and just… let it be.

And then… let it pass. Just like storm clouds in front of a vast and changeless sky.

Common wisdom tells us to fake it till you make it.

To act as if.

To take massive action, even when every fiber of your being stands in resistance.

The problem with this kind of advice is that when you take action from a space of fear/angst/desperation/boredom, what you create as a result has in its DNA this same kind of energy.

Lather, rinse, repeat (because if what shows up in your life leaves you in a state of constant fear/angst/desperation/boredom and you don’t take a different tact, you’re going to get more of the same).

Here’s another way of approaching days like Monday — and every other kind of day.

If you can’t do what needs to be done with joy (simply because of the pleasure you get from the task) or enthusiasm (because you’re working towards a goal that sets you on fire), see if it’s possible for you to just accept the moment as it is, the task as it is, feeling as you do.

Surrendering to what is creates space around your feelings and the situation itself and makes room for peace and inspired action.

Building your business from a place of peace and inspiration — that’s powerful, potent stuff right there. And when you do, you can’t help but be successful — often beyond your wildest dreams.

Plug into what is, right now. Lean into it, offering no resistance. When you do, you’ll know what to do next. And your actions will be infused with a power that you had no idea you possessed.

Think small. Be present. Welcome life on its terms. Do this, and your life will change, forever — and for good.

Success: Hiding in plain sight

Being present with another person is the most powerful tool you have at your disposal to transform any situation and build success upon success.

Has this ever happened to you? I was walking down the street near our home in Louisville one afternoon (I remember the exact spot) when I passed an old man and made eye contact with him.

For just a fleeting moment, it felt as though the entire universe stood still, like I was looking into the eyes of eternity.

Words are so inadequate when it comes to things that happen beyond the mind, at the level of the soul, and for most of us, experiences like this don’t happen often (if ever).

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Today, make a conscious effort to connect with one other person. Whether you’re talking on the phone, or passing in the street, be fully present. Don’t think about what you want to accomplish, your bills, your goals, a missed opportunity.

Just… Show up. Be there.

The most power you will ever have is found in the present moment, when you shush the mind’s chatter and eavesdrop on the silence that resides in the background.

In this space, you’ll discover the next step you need to take to accomplish every goal, resolve any problem, and infuse all aspects of your life — from your health to your finances — with abundance.

Success isn’t out there. It’s in that silent space, buried beneath baggage and clutter, hiding in plain sight. And it’s yours for the taking.

ViSalus 90 Day Challenge and the Powerful Present Moment

When I first began my Challenge back in June, I had no idea where this journey into rediscovering myself, my health and vitality and restoring my body to balance would lead me.

I certainly never imagined that along the way, as I lost the weight, I would also lose the fear and anxiety that put the pounds on in the first place.

And I never knew that I’d gain, too: power, friendships, and the ability to be at peace with the process.

If you’ve been watching my progress and promising yourself you’re going to jump in, reclaim, restore — now is the time.

There is power in this moment.

Tap into that power. We’ll do it together.

Not to make up for all the things you did yesterday.

Not to guarantee a better tomorrow.

Just to live right now — the present moment, and the only moment you have — as you may never have experienced it before.

Contact me for details on how to get started.
